An author cartel is an agreement amongst competitors who decide to stop competing and start collaborating.
In publishing, that means this: you write dark romance or reverse harem. So do I. We are targeting the same readers, running the same ads, fighting for the same visibility. We could keep doing that alone — or we could build an author cartel and multiply everything.
Alexandra Iff is a dark romance and reverse harem author publishing in English and German since 2012. She has released multiple series across Amazon UK, Amazon DE, and Tolino, has been running the annual Reverse Harem Advent Calendar since 2016, and launched the Reverse Harem Fireworks event in 2026. She is based in England and is now building the author network she’s always wanted.
What the Dark Romance Author Cartel Actually Is
A small, serious author cartel for dark romance and reverse harem writers — meeting monthly in London and online — to share knowledge, cross-promote, give feedback, and grow together.
The best author collaborations in history were never accidental. Hemingway, Fitzgerald, and Gertrude Stein built their careers inside a circle of writers who read each other’s work, challenged each other, and promoted each other without ego. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis did the same with the Inklings. Virginia Woolf and the Bloomsbury Group built something that outlasted all of them.
They were, in every meaningful sense, a cartel.
What Membership Looks Like
Monthly in-person meetups in London A regular gathering for authors who take their craft and their business seriously. Agenda-driven, not just social — though there will be Prosecco. 🙂
Monthly online sessions For members outside London or when life gets in the way. Same people, same conversations, accessible from anywhere.
Ongoing collaboration between sessions Cross-promotion, ARC swaps, cover feedback, ad strategy, blurb reviews, genre intelligence. The things that are harder to do alone and faster to do with people who understand your genre.
